Are you as excited as I am about the kids going back to school? Where we live, school starts on August 15th, so just a little less than a month away. School supply lists are out and registration for one of my kiddos is tomorrow. This mom is ready for back to school!
While I don’t have all of my children’s school supplies purchased yet, I do have a few items. Some I pick up at the end of the school season when everything is on sale (loose leaf paper, glue sticks…those kinds of things), other things fly off the shelves so quickly that I have to pick them up as soon as the supply lists come out or my children will be without on the first day of school. Back to school shopping is absolute madness!
Last year, was the first school year using my Silhouette. I printed out print name labels for all my son’s school supplies. The vinyl I use, Oracal 651, is permanent and will last the entire school year. The labels worked out so well that I’m doing it again this year. Below is a sample of what the name labels look like.
Don’t you just love the dinosaurs? I think they turned out great this year! My son is super excited about them too.
Along with these vinyl labels, I tried my hand a print and cut stickers. These are sprayed with a clear sealer so that they are water resistant if something get’s spilled on them. I think these turned out really well too. I’ve got all kinds of plans for more stickers in the future.
Want to try doing these projects at home? Here’s what I used:
- Silhouette Cameo
- Brother MFC-J6535dw Printer (only for the print and cut labels. Note: any good color printer will do the job, this is just the one that I use)
- Oracle 651 in the color of your choice. I purchase mine from 651vinyl.com.
- Avery Sticker Paper, 8 1/2 x 11
- Krylon Crystal Clear Acrylic Coating (only for the print and cut labels)
